Stol is one of the most attractive mountains in Slvoenia for mountain flying. We went up there in November, before the snow.

Access and landing: From Stol you can fly above famous Bled lake, we suggest you that you land at the athlete stadium at the north side of the lake. Best landing option right under the mountain is at the main road from direction Ljubljana cca 500m before village Žirovnica. You have some power lines there, but the landing is wide enough.

Flying conditions: Flying form Stol mountain is possible in light winds, take-off is faced to the south. In our case we had some light north wind (3 - 5 m/s at the top). We took off 200 m below the mointain hut at the top, when the thermal activity started to stop the meteo wind. Normaly we take-off right below the mountain hut at the top.

Warning: no problems with airspace, here is alllowed to fly up to 2900 m ASL. Be careful a bit because of sport airfield Lesce below the mountain, specially if you decide t5o fly above lake Bled.
