This area is  popular becouse of an extraordinary number of flying days throughout the year and favourable climate in the winter time providing more thermal days than the other areas.

Despite good thermal activity, the flying conditions are normaly relatively mild and suitable for everybody, also beginners. Once we rise above the south edge of the karstic plateau, we have nice options for xc flying to the west or to the east among the ridge.

TAKE-OFFS: Kobala,  Kobariški stol

SOME BEST FLIGHTS: Lijak - Senj (140km), Ridge flying (105km), Lijak - Kobarički stol - Lijak (110km)

USUAL FLYING:
- ridge flying (up to 100km)
- classical route: Lijak - Nanos (east side of the mountain) - Kovk landing (60km)

This area is very reliable with thermal conditions and provides a lot of flying days in any season. It`s is located close to the Ljubljana airport and quickly accesible by a significant number of paragliding pilots.

The place has great potential for XC flying, the main mountain ridge is going from central Slovenia all the way to Italian border. Due to the simplicity of flying, flatland with manny landings in front of the ridge, this area is perfect choice for first XC flights!

TAKE OFFS: Krvavec, Ambrož pod Krvavcem, Gozd, Dobrča, Zabreška planina, Sv. Peter

BEST FLIGHTS: Gozd-Brunico (240km), Ambrož-Rateče- Ambrož (150km), Ambrož-Golica-Most na Soči-Leše (125km FAI triang.), Gozd-Kranjska gora-Gozd (135km)

USUAL XC FLYING:
- classic 30km out and return route (Ambrož-Križka gora-Ambrož)
- one way direction nice flying towards Bled 30 km (Ambrož-Bled)
- one way direction towars Italian border 50 km
- out and return 50-100km up to Italian border

This area holds special place among all Slovenian flying areas, because of the fact that an outstanding number of amazing XC flights has been flown here, including four current world records! The ridge, also known as "Bohinj highway" is going from Ratitovec all the way to the Italy and allow you to fly long distances to Tolmin, towards Italy and back again.
Terrain here is more complex and flying here is more demanding. But on the very east side of the mountain ridge there is a small village Dražgoše, nice playground area for XC flying also for the beginners - in last years two Slovenian open competitions took place here!

TAKE OFFS: Dražgoše, Soriška planina, Ratitovec

SOME BEST FLIGHTS: WR out and return (260km), WR speed over FAI 100km, WR speed over out and return 100km, Dražgoše-Kobariški stol-Dražgoše (140km), Dražgoše-Triglav-Begunje-Dražgoše (80km), Dražgoše-Žiri-Dražgoše (56km)

USUAL FLYING:
- local flying from Dražgoše up to Ratitovec (possible top-landing) and back
- flying to Bled cross the Jelovica
- flying from Dražgoše to the mountains towards Tolmin and Italy (50+km)
- out and return 50-200km towards Italy
- out and return towards south

Laško is known absolutely to everybody for its thermal water and beer. Aaround Laško there are some nice take-offs, from where you can start your flight above fascinating hilly landscape.

The place has nice options for XC flying in all the directions. This region we will visit in case of strong NE wind or cloud cover in mountains area.

TAKE-OFFS: Lisca, Malič, Žusem

BEST FLIGHTS: Žusem-Ajdovščina (133km), Žusem-Ljubljana (90km), Lisca-IT: border-Bled (176km), Lisca out and return (80km), Malič-IT.border-Cerklje (145km)

USUAL XC FLYING:
- flaing above the hills to the SW (Žusem takeoff)
- out and return flying in Lisca up to 100km
- one way direction towards mountains and Bled
